Recent Updates to Store Locator Plus 4.6.4

Store Locator Plus version 4.6.4 fixed the zoom settings, the plug-in tabs “save changes” and the back-end UI.

The change in the back end user interface will not be noticeable to most users. The naming of sections and tabs and settings now will use programmatic slugs instead of the plain text names. This allows the settings translations in different languages to remain intact even if language files have not been updated. This means future updates to Store Locator Plus, Power, Experience, and Premier add-ons will no longer lose their settings tabs. Another behind the scenes development is populating the plug-in and add-ons with “smart options” settings. To learn more please watch the developer’s brief You Tube.

Store Locator Plus 4.4.19 and Tagalong 4.4.01 and User Interface updates

Werk_in_uitvoering_bord_

Some of you may have already noticed some changes  in the Store Locator Plus User Interface Panel.  We hope you like the new look, it is still being “remodeled” so we appreciate your patience while it is under construction.   The usability of the plugin should not be effected but if there is anything you cannot readily see please let us know.

In addition to the UI changes, we are endeavoring to create a new documentation site that will use the Word Press posts and categories method to augment the search box function.  It has been frustrating for  support  to search the documentation or the posts for the best answers as you may be aware.    The new Documentation site should be a great help narrowing down your search for specific instructions and/or ” how to”  information.

Store Locator Plus 4.4.19 Bug fix

A bug that was inadvertently introduced somewhere along the way, effected the “Disable scroll wheel” and “do not auto zoom” feature of Enhanced Map.  The bug only effected the Legacy add-on(s) and was a minute error in one line of code that was not readily noticed in testing.  The new Experience add-on , and upcoming Power Add-on are written correctly using best practices and rely on a different section of the base plug-in code (my non – technical explanation) and therefore were not effected.   Eventually all the old legacy code will be updated to work  efficiently with correct syntax and using best practices.   Which will mean a lot less updates and better performance.    Don’t worry there will be notices sent out  well ahead of time when this happens and your Legacy add-ons will still work with the 4.4 versions of SLP.

Tagalong

Tagalong version 4.4.01 was released today and addresses a missing translation string  for our Netherlands compatriots.  Thank you to Ramona for reporting this and for following through with us as the developer went through the files to find the missing translation for “Add”. Yep, that one little word created a mystery and confusion all its own, and why this support person could not find or replicate the issue. (my site isn’t in Dutch).   I will be adding translations to my support role on an interim as needed basis.

A reminder to our multi lingual  customers, website designers, developers or techie types, if you are interested in providing a translation services for add-ons that have not been translated, or are not at 100%  for the new Experience add-on , Store Locator Plus will reward you (once verified) with a free add-on or a discount coupon for your trouble.  If you have already translated and add-on, please send us the completed .po and .mo files.  To find out more please contact us.    You can also contribute translations for the base plug-in  at the Store Locator Plus directory at WordPress Translate.

Store Locator Plus also has a new You Tube channel where the video playlists will be combined and updated as needed. You can also click on the you tube icon in the SLP Info panel.

If you have any questions please post them in the forum and provide a screenshot of your plugin environment when requesting support or reporting any issues. Its not that we are nosy, but knowing what versions helps us when determining the source of any possible issues, plus it saves us time.  Sometimes it is a simple “update” that is needed. SLp-new-pluginenvironment-1

Store Locator Plus Updates: SLP 4.3.20 patches, geocoder fallback, and translations, Contact Extender 4.3.01

Where in the world?

We’re in the world!

Enhancements, patches and changes have been made to Store Locator Plus in version 4.3.20.

The extended data systems have been improved with several “corner case” issues resolved for users that are migrating data to new systems or creating a fresh install of location data within a new system. In some cases, the extended data was not being correctly saved to the locations table. Another major focus in this update involves language translations. A number of bug fixes included the setting of the default labels for fields such as “Email”, “Hours”, and “Fax” to non-English values when performing an initial install in a non-English language. This should assist our international customers in managing their SLP data. Another feature that has been added is the “fallback” latitude/longitude to provide a better location than 0,0 (which is off the coast of Africa in the middle of the ocean) when Google query is offline and comes back with “no results found”. An explanation of the Google MAP API is discussed in previous blogs in the SLP news.

SLP 4.3.20 Highlights:

  • Enhancement: Use Language Translations for the SLP INFO tab that includes the Plugin Environment
  • Enhancement: Use Language Translations for the back end under Experience/View/Settings
  • Enhancement: Google Geocoding fallback to a specified latitude/longtitude when Google query is offline
  • Fix: Data extension fields not importing when imported for the very first time. (Note: Import features only available to ProPack users)
  • Fix: When importing call to the special identifier field in Contact Extender
  • Fix: When updating an existing location and the address does not change, make sure that lat/long is retained.
  • Add: Hide SLP menu in the WP admin bar if user does not have manage–slp–admin capability
  • Fix: Load the proper default language settings for data driven default strings
  • Fix: Rename the language files to match the Translate.WordPress.Org standard of ‘store-locator-le’
  • Change: Swedish, Dutch and Azerbaiijani(Turkish) translations come direct from the WordPress Plugin Translation updates instead of the store-locator-plus.mo directory.
  • Contact Extender 4.3.01:

  • Fix: Special identifier field matching to work with external database identifiers when imported
  • Watch the author/developer’s tutorial video and commentary regarding Store Locator Plus update to version 4.3.20 and Contact Extender update to 4.3.01. If you have any questions regarding this update or any SLP products, please be sure to sign up for the free support forum. As always, we appreciate the SLP community and forum users who provide us with their plugin environment and details when posting.

Store Locator Plus Release 4.3.06 effects WPML interface

1635_Blaeu_Map_Guiana,_Venezuela,_and_El_Dorado_-_Geographicus_-_Guiana-blaeu-1635

Store Locator Plus version 4.3.06 was released today which changed some important dynamics behind the scenes. The biggest change will effect the international users who have been using WPML or similar as a language translator. The reason for the change is not to make a lot of work, but will be required to be compliant and compatible with the next WordPress release. The change is to the “text domain” structure. Some users will need to make changes to their custom translations and text strings as a result. The tutorial video describes the process and tips on changing your text string.

Update textdomain to ‘store-locator-le’ to utilize the forthcoming Store Locator Plus Release Notes page for WordPress. Note: This may require re-translating strings for some WPML installs.

Also in 4.3.06, the patch fixes the bug introduced after updating to SLP 4.3. The Map Info Bubble was not appearing. Another fix to the Map section of the plug-in is the ability to set the Map width to Auto. For more information and details please refer to the Change Log.

Premier Feature Coming soon

A new feature for the Premier Subscription Members that will allow modification of the search results and allow the Administrator/User to add headers and columns. More about this and a sneak preview of what is included can also viewed in the video.

Translation Team : SLP 4.1 / SLP Pro 4.1 Uploaded

WordPress Languages

The latest Store Locator Plus 4.1 and Store Locator Plus Pro Pack version 4.1 have been uploaded to the Store Locator Plus board on Trello.  Community Contributors (The CiCi Group) can use their Trello login to access the board and retrieve the latest English .po files and zip files of these plugins.

SLP 4.1 is scheduled to go into production this coming Wednesday (the Jan 29th), translations are desired but not required by that date.

SLP Pro 4.1 is scheduled to go into production Thursday (Jan 30th) or Friday (Jan 31st), translations are desired but not required by that date.

Translations that arrive after production release dates will be added and published in a patch release.

Getting Started

The easiest way to do a translation, in my opinion, is to install theCodestyling Localizaton plugin.

  • Install Codestyling Localization
  • Download/Install/Activate the latest version of SLP attached.
  • Go to Tools/Localization in your admin panel.
  • Find the Store Locator Plus section
    — Rescan for an existing language
    — Add New Language to add a new language
  • Click Edit
  • Edit any items that need to be changed.
  • Save the items (this creates/updates the .po file)
  • Click “generate mo-file” when done.

When you are finished send the .po and .mo file or post it here and send a note to info@charlestonsw.com.

Languages Wanted

It would be great to have all of the SLP plugins translated into the top 10 languages used by the WordPress community!

http://en.wordpress.com/stats/

The CiCi Group

If you are part of the Community Contributors group of coders or translators you have already been invited to this board.

If you are a translator and wish to become a member of the Store Locator Plus Community Contributors board please use the contact form and indicate your interest in translating the Store Locator Plus plugin into a new language.    When your completed translation is received you will be granted access to the board and copies of the latest add-on packs.

The SLP board at Trello shares insight in the current and future path of Store Locator Plus. What we are working on as a community group, what ideas and concepts are being considered, and what is in production.   The only way to become part of the “C C group” is to contribute to Store Locator Plus.  The fastest path at the moment is to submit one of the 100+ translations that are wanted for the base plugin.
